Performance Textiles, Inc. News Releases
29 June 2005
At Last: A Fabric that Not Only Meets ANSI/ISEA 107-2004, but Also ASTM
F 1506
Performance Textiles,
Inc. is proud to announce its’ latest addition to their ANSI approved
family of high-visibility products. Along with meeting the standards
for color, luminance, and reflectivity, one of Performance Textiles’
fabrics now satisfies standards for flame resistance. This unique,
flame-retardant, high-visibility fabric entirely fulfills ANSI/ISEA
107-2004 and all FR requirements of ASTM F 1506. ASTM set a
nationally recognized standard, F 1506, stating the specifications for
flame resistant materials used in safety apparel. This fabric is
inherently FR for the life of the product. This fabric will be an
extremely valuable source of added protection to utility workers who
may be subjected to momentary electric arc. Prior to Performance
Textiles’ latest development, there have been no materials gratifying
both requirements in their totality. Performance Textiles, Inc.
currently has a patent pending on their flame resistant,
high-visibility safety fabric. Performance Textiles, Inc. also
manufacturers a line of ANSI approved high-visibility fabrics.
Performance Textiles, Inc. provides high-visibility fabrics for Level
I, high-visibility protection, and Level II, high-visibility and flame
retardant (FR) protection. Additional development is nearing
completion on a Level III high-visibility, FR, and electric arc
resistant burn protection. Further announcements will be provided.

ANSI/ISEA 107-2004 Approved
High-Visibility Fabrics from Performance Textiles, Inc.
Because there
were no federal regulations governing the standards of high-visibility
safety apparel prior to 2004, two organizations set out in a joint
venture and, during that year, developed guidelines for
high-visibility safety apparel. The two organizations were ANSI,
American National Standards Institute, and ISEA, International Safety
Equipment Association. ANSI/ISEA created a standard, 107-2004, which
governs the luminescent, color, and reflective qualities of a safety
fabric. Taking this one step further, ANSI/ISEA differentiated
between the activities and work environment of the wearer, and decided
upon three Classes of conspicuity required for certain situations,
with Class III providing the highest degree. Class I is usually worn
by persons in a non-complex background where traffic does not exceed
25 mph, whereas in Class II traffic exceeds 25 mph and weather
conditions vary. Class III provides high-visibility for workers in
complex backgrounds with traffic exceeding 50 mph. Classes are based
on a garment having a specified amount of reflective area.
Performance Textiles, Inc. manufacturers a family of ANSI approved
high-visibility safety fabrics in both safety orange and fluorescent
yellow/green. We provide high-visibility fabrics with three distinct
levels of protection, such as Level I for high-visibility, Level II
for high-visibility and flame retardance (FR), and Level III for
high-visibility, FR, and electric arc resistant burn protection. We
have executed Levels I and II and will achieve Level III in the near
future. Moreover, Performance Textiles’ is the leading supplier in
the United States of high-visibility, woven safety fabrics.
Performance Textiles, Inc. also has a patent pending on its’ unique,
flame-retardant, high-visibility fabric which is ANSI approved and
meets the FR requirements of ASTM F 1506. Further announcements will
be provided.
